Freeview Digital Television

"Freeview" is a trademark for digital free channels, available without cable or satellite. You get the signal the same way you get analog Terrestrial television now, over the air, with an aerial. You may need a one-time purchase of a set-top box, or it may be built into your television or digital recorder. In some cases, it might require upgrading or replacing your current antenna to a digital tv aerial. But after that, there's no further monthly fee to pay, ever. Since television broadcasting started in the middle of the last century, the signal has been analog. But analog will be shut down arcross the United Kingdom by 2012, replaced by a digital signal.
