I have had this box for about 7/8 years and it is still going strong, Would buy another one if this went to freeview heaven but so far still running well, If only there was something I coudl attach to the box to record tv programs for me without having to subscribe to a cable company.

This was damaged on arrival and, because the item was very well packed and the box was completely undamaged, I believe that it was damaged before being despatched. I will not easily use non-Amazon suppliers again.
Easy to set up November 3, 2009

The Sony VTX D800U Freeview Sigital is a typical Sony product, very easy to set up & use giving a brilliant TV picture much better than my Sky Dish. I am not able to coment on the reliability of this product as I have only had it for two weeks.
 Has been OK in the past ~ but only OK April 5, 2009

Sony VTX-D800U Freeview Digital TV Set Top Box
After some time of yielding up a reasonable performance - i.e. no way I could possibly measure its input sensitivity except to say that, where I live, I would have wished for much better - it has suddenly this week, for some unknown reason, dropped around two thirds of the channels it previously received, including BBC channels 1,2,3 and 80. The manual, "describing" the issue is a model of smug stupidity it states, and here I quote, "The channel only broadcasts for part of the day" and "Check the programme listings." I wonder why others have waxed lyrical about it and they are now on their second or (umpteenth)? On second thoughts...

I have satisfaction from this digital tv set top box, given me no problems at all. I did have a cheapO model at first, this proved to be useless, so decided to go for a good branded name of Sony, paid the price and have been happy ever since.
