This Humax PVR is an excellent machine, very good picture quality, compact and easy to use.
The only downside is the noisy fan (especially on start up) and the 'freezing' of the picture, requring rebooting. Humax exchanged the original and sent upgrades and it is now fine, but the fan is still a bit noisier than i would like although the sound of the programmes covers it. I have since purchased another one for my sister.

i bought this recorder somewere else due to shipping problems.This hd pvr is the beast out there fot that kind of momey.

This is an amazing recorder. I had used an earlier version for many years and was surprised at the improvements that have been made. My only criticism is the small size of the buttons on the remote controller. It is easy to press the wrong button at times. However I am happy to recommend this recorder.

As I am deaf I needed a recorder that recorded subtitles and this machine does just that.Very easy to set up.I had been going to buy a digital TV for the switchover but now I have this I will not bother.I can record 2 channels and watch another.I have found that since March when I bought the recorder that I no longer watch TV in 'real time'.I set it up once a week to record the one off programmes I want to see or to record a whole series.I now only watch TV when I want too,you can even pause live TV! There is plenty of space for recording,I have quite a few films recorded but still have vast amounts of space!
The instructions on disc so a computer is needed,I printed mine out for future reference but this could be a problem if you do not have access to a computer or printer.
My one gripe with TV (not this recorder) is that even with the digital channels ,to which I am new,there is so little choice in programmes,being mostly repeats,even the schedules for satellite and cable are dire (so will not be paying for their services!)so I really resent paying my license fee.
